Immune Modulators

Immune modulators are substances that influence the immune system. These modulators can regulate and bring the immune system back in to normalisation by selectively blocking steps in the inflammatory and immune cascades.

They may also be used effectively in the non-surgical treatment of skin cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. Examples of such topical treatments (creams) include solaraze, Efudix (5 fluorouracil), Aldara (imiquimod) and Metfix (ALA)

Niacinamide (vitamin B3) is another immune modulator. it is used to strengthen the skin's immune defence by preventing suppression of the skins immune responses to U.V. radiation. Niacinamide also inhibits melanosome transfer to the keratinocyte (helps maintain pigmentation) and assist down regulation of sebum production (reduces oily shine).
