Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, LASER (laser), is a mechanism for emitting light within the electromagnetic radiation region of the light spectrum. Lasers have been used in many areas of aesthetic medicine including hair removal, tattoo removal, pigmentation removal, and skin resurfacing to reduce wrinkles.

In some patients, lasers may also be used in the treatment of acne scarring and in the treatment of active acne by damaging the sebaceous gland and therefore reducing oil production.
