Good nutrition aims to achieve and maintain a desirable body composition and high potential for physical and mental work. Daily requirements for essential nutrition depend on age, weight, sex, metabolic and physical activity. Carefully planned, it must provide an energy balance and a nutrient balance. Nutrients are provided from proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, water and roughage. Energy requirements can be calculated individually and aim to maintain a Body Mass Index of 20-25. This can be calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared.
