Xanthelasma

This is a collection of yellowish cholesterol deposits underneath the skin around the eyes. These are not harmful or painful but can be disfiguring and can be surgically removed if necessary. They are common in Asian and Mediterranean races and may be an indication of raised cholesterol levels. These yellow deposits may improve without treatment, but if unsightly, laser therapy could be considered as an alternative to surgery.
